The study of English is central to the learning and development of all students at Burpengary State Secondary College. It helps create confident communicators, imaginative thinkers and informed citizens. It is through the study of English that our students learn to analyse, understand, communicate and build relationships with others and the world around them.
English requires students to engage with a variety of texts to interpret, create, evaluate and discuss meaning in a wide variety contexts. These include literary texts and various types of media texts, including newspapers, film, fiction, poetry, dramatic performances and multimodal texts. Abstract themes and issues are explored through higher order reasoning and critical analysis.
