At Burpengary State Secondary College we have had great success from our work experience programs to date. Many of our students have been invited to come back through either paid work or traineeships. Students and parents both have commented on the increased motivation and direction the work experience has provided.
Year 10 is the optimal time for students to head out on work experience as it provides them with some understanding of the industries they may be interested in at a time when they are planning for their future study pathways (SET planning and senior subject selection).
The College offers all Year 10 students an opportunity to complete a work experience placement in week 10 of term 3 each year. More information will be provided to Year 10 students throughout the year by the College VET Coordinator.
Additionally, students in Year 11 and 12 may choose to complete work experience in preparation for their future pathways. Please complete the expression of interest form and hand it into the College VET Coordinator.
