As the founding College Principal of Burpengary State Secondary College, our vision is based on ‘Innovative Learning in a Global Community’. This is the foundation of our International Student Program. We seek to connect with individual cultures and learn from the diverse community of people that inhabit the world.

Our values of Respect, Courage and Excellence, are the foundation of our College’s success and we have built a strong community that highlights these values in all that we do. We are very proud of our programs that has enabled students, families and the wider college community to experience wonderful cultures through our professional teacher and student visits.

With our modern facilities, supportive teachers and caring homestay families, Burpengary State Secondary College is a school that will enhance every student’s learning.

Peter Hoehn - Principal

My name is Allissa Hickson and I am the International Coordinator here at Burpengary State Secondary College.

My role is to support our ISP students with all their curriculum requirements. I have been teaching Japanese for 14 years to both Primary and High School students. I am also a foundation staff member of Burpengary State Secondary College, having opened in 2015.

I am passionate about being a part of the International Community and helping all students become Global Citizens.

Allissa Hickson - Teacher/International Coordinator

I am the International Homestay Coordinator.
My role is to recruit suitable homestay families, and then manage and coordinate the placement of international students with the approved families. Throughout the placement I liaise with homestay families, manage payments and advocate for international students.

I have been a Teacher Aide at Burpengary State Secondary College since 2015. I am passionate about advocating for all students and encourage the school values of Respect, Courage and Excellence.
