International Student Program (ISP) students attend Burpengary State Secondary College to complete part of their schooling journey. These programs typically run from 1 term to 1-3 years.
Hosting an ISP student is a different experience from hosting study tour students. ISP students arrive on their own and become fully integrated into our school community. They wear the Burpengary SS uniform, complete homework, assignments, tasks, and exams just like Australian students. Our school offers a small, personalized international program with up to 20 students, allowing for a close-knit and supportive environment.
International students in the ISP program become part of an Australian homestay family, giving them the opportunity to immerse themselves in local culture and build lasting relationships with local students.
Hosting an ISP student includes
- Providing a private bedroom with appropriate storage space for clothes, personal belongings, and study materials.
- Supplying a desk, chair, and adequate lighting for study.
- Giving the student a house key or alarm passwords for access.
- Assisting with the purchase of a Go-Card (if required).
- Helping the student navigate transport to and from school, as well as for school-related activities.
- Supporting the student in attending any routine medical, dental, hospital, or health-related appointments as needed (students arrive with their own Private Health Cover).
- Ensuring the student attends school on time, every school day.
- Encouraging the student to complete assigned homework and study regularly.
- Assisting the student in participating in extracurricular activities arranged or recommended by the school.
