Subject Description

Physical Education develops students' understanding of the science of movement through practical, hands-on learning. Students investigate how the body moves and performs, applying movement concepts and strategies across a range of physical activities. They collect and analyse information to improve performance, solve movement challenges, and make informed decisions about participation, health and physical activity.

This subject provides a strong foundation for further study and careers in areas such as exercise science, biomechanics, allied health, psychology, teaching, coaching, sport development, sport management, marketing and journalism.

Assessment

Four formative assessments are completed in Units 1 and 2. In Units 3 and 4, students complete four summative assessments. The results from each of the assessments are added together to provide a subject score out of 100. Students will also receive an overall subject result (A–E).
