Year 7 JET planning

Burpengary State Secondary College is committed to supporting our Year 7 students and their families’ transition to high school. The next stage in this process, is to meet with you and your student to set learning goals and discuss strategies on how to achieve them.

Welcome to J.E.T (Junior Education and Targets) planning

What is J.E.T planning?

A time for you and your student to meet with a teacher to set academic, effort and behavioural targets for the next semester. Teachers will support your student to set specific, measurable and achievable targets with strategies that will suit their needs.

What will happen at the meeting?

Teachers will talk to your student about their academic, behaviour and attendance history and talk to them about how they feel about school. Your student will be asked where they would like to be at the end of the semester. Your student will set an academic target for each of their subjects and then they will discuss the strategies on how to implement and achieve them.

What happens after the meeting?

The targets that your student sets will be passed onto their teachers, along with their strategies to achieve them. You will also be able to access your student’s plan through their One School account.

How long will the meeting take?

We will have 30 minutes to work on your student’s plan.
